An Inbox Full of Love: Mediumship, Mum and Two Very Special Evenings

I was laughing with Mum today about how different my inbox has become.

There’s still plenty in it. That part hasn’t changed. But the feeling I get when I open it is completely different.

It feels like an inbox of love rather than stress.

I’m about two weeks into making mediumship my full-time work, and between readings, producing Soul Sync, planning events and trying to keep up with all the ideas arriving, I don’t think my feet have properly touched the ground.

I’ve been busy, but it’s a different kind of busy. I’m doing work that moves me, receiving so much kindness, and finding myself excited about what comes next.

And what comes next includes two evenings of mediumship in Backwell and Kenn, here in North Somerset, close to home in Bristol. They mean rather more to me than two new dates in the diary.

But before I get to those, there has been an important development in the management team.

Mum has joined the events department

In approximately two weeks, I have somehow acquired a Head of In-Person Events.

It’s my mum.

I’m not sure the NHS ever quite realised it had a future Head of Spiritual Events in its midst. Fortunately, I’ve spotted her potential. 😂

Mum and I worked together for ten years, and when she went off to start her NHS job, I really missed having her alongside me. We’re incredibly close. She’s my mum, obviously, but she’s also my best friend, and there’s something lovely about sharing your working days with someone you can laugh with about almost anything.

So finding ourselves working together again, even if just for a brief little while, in this completely different chapter, has been one of the nicest surprises of all.

She’s helping me organise the in-person evenings, but she’s also been busy with something of her own: making and sourcing beautiful little things to sell. Spiritual gifts, handmade pieces and treasures she has chosen because she loves them.

Things that are, very much, infused with love.

Years ago, Mum used to make cushions. I call her Kimble — it’s just our little thing — and she had labels made for them that said Kimble’s Imperfections.

Well, this time we’ve been joking that they’re Kimble’s Perfections.

The name has had an upgrade. The love going into them is exactly the same.

She’ll be bringing her lovely things along to the evenings, so there will be an opportunity to have a browse and meet the woman who now appears to be running the show.

I’m still allowed to do the mediumship, apparently.

Two weeks into the work, but a much longer journey

I recently wrote about taking the leap into mediumship: leaving my old business behind and deciding to give this work the space it had been asking for in my life.

These first two weeks have been full of readings, conversations and moments that have moved me in ways I’m still finding words for.

I feel continually surprised by the spirit world: by the way a communication unfolds, by what it teaches me, and by how much there is still to understand. Alongside the readings, I’m producing Soul Sync and trying to find enough hours to do something with all the inspiration I’m feeling.

But although working as a psychic medium full-time is new, the journey here certainly isn’t.

There has been my psychic awakening, years of development, the gradual building of confidence and the unfolding of abilities I’ve had to learn to trust. There has also been a fair amount of unlearning.

Some of that has meant questioning things I was taught. Some of it has meant questioning things I decided about myself.

I’ve had to learn that being sensitive isn’t something I need to explain away, and that developing my mediumship doesn’t mean becoming a different person. Sometimes it has felt much more like allowing parts of myself to wake up again.

So when I look at these two upcoming evenings, I see all of that behind them.

Why Backwell and Kenn mean so much to me

These will be the first evenings of mediumship that I’m hosting myself.

They aren’t my first demonstrations. Platform mediumship has been a passion of mine for a long time, and whenever an opportunity to demonstrate comes along, I’m usually very quick to put my hand up.

But these evenings feel different.

They’re my nights to bring together: to welcome people, shape the atmosphere and share the work in the way that feels right to me.

On an events calendar, they’re two evenings in local halls. To me, they’re milestones. They represent the confidence it has taken to say, “Yes, I’m going to do this,” after everything that has brought me here.

And I’m proud of that.

Would it be believable to tell you I’m not nervous? Probably not.

Of course I’m a little nervous. I care about the work, the people who will come and the trust involved in sharing mediumship. But underneath those nerves, and much louder than them at the moment, is excitement.

I’ve wanted to do this for a long time.

Having Mum there alongside me makes it even more special. She knows how much of a journey it has been.

Why I love demonstrating mediumship

When I talk about platform mediumship, I mean demonstrating in front of an audience, rather than working privately with one person.

I love my private readings, but there is something about being in a room with people that I absolutely love.

I love the energy, the interaction and the way an evening can move between emotion and laughter. I love having the space to respond to what is happening, rather than knowing exactly how everything is going to unfold.

It is where I feel most strongly called to work.

For me, the intention is never simply to stand up and deliver a collection of facts about someone who has died. Evidence matters because it helps us recognise who is communicating. But I want the person to be heard.

Their humour, their way of expressing themselves, their relationships and the memories that matter to them.

I want to allow them to communicate through me, so that the person receiving it has the opportunity to feel they are hearing from someone they love, rather than only hearing about them.

That is the work I feel so passionate about.

And there is room for laughter in it. The people we love had personalities. They could be funny, affectionate, stubborn, outspoken and occasionally quite impossible. I want to make room for that individuality, too.

Join us for An Evening with Spirit near Bristol

Both evenings will include an opening talk about the spirit world, live mediumship, an interval and an audience Q&A. You’re welcome whether you’ve attended demonstrations for years or have never been to anything like this before.

Mum will be helping me host and bringing along her collection of spiritual gifts and lovingly made and sourced treasures.

A little nervous, very excited and incredibly grateful

That’s where I am this week.

I’ve been quite overwhelmed by the love coming my way, and I don’t take it for granted. To everyone who has booked a reading, listened to Soul Sync, sent a kind message or encouraged me as I’ve made this change: thank you.

I feel inspired, and I feel a real sense of purpose in being a voice for the spirit world. I’m still learning, still developing and still finding my way, but I’m very glad to be giving this work my attention.

In a few weeks, I’ll be walking into those halls with Mum, getting everything ready and probably having a small moment to take it all in.

Then we’ll open the doors.

Mum and I would love to welcome you.
