How Clever Is the Spirit World? What a Week of Mediumship Development Taught Me About Signs, Healing and the Language of the Soul
I've just come home from a week away doing nothing but mediumship — sitting with other mediums, developing my senses, experimenting, testing, pushing at the edges of what's actually possible. And I have to tell you: I came home in complete awe.
Not awe at anything I did. Awe at what spirit did.
We spend so much energy on how hard it is for two people who don't speak the same language to understand each other. Now imagine what it takes for an entire world without a body, without a voice, without a single physical thing to point at, to get a message through to us — accurately, specifically, on demand. The more mediumship I do, the less I think of it as "talking to the dead" and the more I understand it as learning to read a language. The language of the soul.
How Spirit Actually Speaks: The Language of the Soul
Here's the part most people are never told about mediumship: spirit doesn't hand a medium a script. They go into our consciousness — our memories, our images, the emotions we already carry, the photographs already imprinted somewhere in our mind — and they build the message out of that. It isn't psychic dictation. It's closer to translation, happening in real time, using whatever resource a medium's own mind has available.
That's exactly why, when I'm properly in the power, evidence comes fast — one image straight after another. And it's exactly why the moment I start trying to place a piece of evidence, or reach for the next detail instead of just receiving it, everything seizes up. I understand now, very precisely, why I get a "no" during a reading. It's almost always the same reason: I've stopped receiving and started thinking. The second you go into your head, you leave the power — and you make the spirit world's job about a hundred times harder than it needs to be.
The Blindfold Exercise That Left Me Speechless
One exercise this week proved that better than anything I've experienced in years. Every medium in the group took a raffle ticket. The matching ticket sat with a person in the room. We picked a number, put on a blindfold, and gave a reading — with no yeses, no nos, no acknowledgement at all until the very end.
It worked. Every single time bar two, across a full room of mediums working completely blind, with zero feedback to correct course by. Sit with that for a second. However spirit choose which medium picks up which ticket, however they route a communication through a stranger's memories and imagery with no confirmation along the way — it is staggering, deliberate, intelligent work. I don't think I'll ever get used to how much preparation must go on, on their side, before a single word reaches us.
The Doctor Called Hunter
If you want proof that whoever's on the other side has a sense of humour, let me leave you with this one. I was reading for a woman in my group, and a man came through clearly as a doctor — tidy, except for a desk buried under piles of notes. A nurse who doubled as his housekeeper. Then he showed me a rifle.
"Was he a hunter?" I asked. "No," she said, "he definitely wasn't a hunter." His surname was Hunter.
How clever is that? That's not vague symbolism I could bend to fit anything. That's precise, playful, deliberately chosen — spirit reaching for the one detail that would land as unmistakable proof, and using a joke to do it.
Remote Viewing: Consciousness Beyond the Body
The other thing I've been experimenting with recently is remote viewing — placing my own consciousness in a location a volunteer is picturing, without being told anything about it beforehand. I've given floor plans. I've described specific rooms and specific details about a house that I had no way of knowing. None of this is new — people have understood pieces of it for thousands of years, and there was a well-documented period when it was studied seriously and then quietly shelved.
What it proves to me, again and again, is simple: you are not your body. Your consciousness isn't sealed inside your skull. I spent a long time believing it was — and that belief, more than anything, is what sent me down some genuinely destructive paths. Understanding that consciousness extends beyond the physical isn't just a nice spiritual idea to me anymore. It's something I've now tested, directly, more times than I can count.
My Dad, My Granddad, and the Family Who Never Really Leave
This week gave me something more personal too. We're coming up to six weeks from a year since my dad passed. He and I had a fiery relationship — he struggled with his emotions his whole life, and I believe, looking back, he was carrying depression that never got addressed. It made our calls tense more often than not.
Since he's passed, he's come through about four times now, and it's changed how I understand our relationship completely. This week, in a platform demonstration, he came through again — and hearing how he sees me now, hearing him communicate at all when public speaking was something he'd never have gone near in life, brought me to tears. Because what it told me is that he's healed. He's learned the language of the spirit world. Whatever he struggled with here, he isn't carrying there.
A lot of us worry about that — whether someone we've lost, who was in pain or unwell when they died, is still carrying that pain now. From everything I've witnessed, I can tell you: you go home to heal. My granddad, who passed fifteen years ago and was a medium himself, feels to me like the one on the other side helping arrange it all — I've come to think of him almost as the telephone receiver for my family in spirit, preparing whoever's coming through to speak to me. That connection with my own spirit team is something I don't think I'd fully appreciated until this week.
Learning Not to Reach
If there's one lesson I'm bringing home above all others, it's this: stop reaching. It's tempting, when a piece of evidence comes through, to go chasing after more — a name, an age, a relationship — because we're taught that specifics prove a reading. But every time you reach, you leave the power and land back in your own head, handing the spirit world an extra hoop to jump through that they never needed. Trust what comes. Use everything available to your senses, not just the next piece on the conveyor belt. That's when the real evidence — and the real emotion, which is what actually gives a reading its power — comes through.
I feel endlessly privileged to be the ambassador for a world this intelligent, this patient, and this determined to reach us. Genuinely — it's an honour.
SPIRITUAL TAKEAWAYS:
Mediumship is a language, not a script. Spirit communicates by drawing on a medium's own memories, images and emotions in real time — not by handing over pre-written information.
"Reaching" for more evidence takes you out of the power. The moment a medium starts chasing extra confirmation, they move from receiving into thinking — and the reading loses both accuracy and emotional power.
Spirit's intelligence shows up in specificity and even humour — like a surname doubling as unmistakable proof — not in vague, generic symbolism.
Remote viewing experiments suggest consciousness isn't confined to the physical body, a principle spiritual traditions and mediums alike have pointed to for centuries.
Loved ones who struggled in life — with pain, illness or their emotions — are healed once they return to the spirit world, which changes what a sign from them can mean for those left behind.
If this has left you thinking about someone you've lost, or wondering what your own mediumship or intuition might be capable of, that's exactly the kind of thing a reading can open up.

Hello and a massive warm welcome back to the SoulSync. It's lovely to have you here. Now, my darling listener, I am bursting with inspiration, I tell you that. I've been away for a week immersing myself in all things mediumship, and there's something so magical about when mediums from all over the world come together for the very purposes of developing themselves, exploring their mediumship, experimenting and getting to understand how your relationship, how your language of the soul, so to speak, works for you. And we have done a lot of experimenting this week, which has really made me stop and take awe of just how intelligent the spirit world are. I think sometimes how difficult we can find communication between just people of different languages on this planet, people who have different views to us, and then I look at what it is that the spirit world have to do to get messages through to us. Part of me thought to myself, why the bloody hell do they bother in the first place? Well, I'll tell you why they bother, they bother because they want to help us. We are part of that world. We are a soul, you are a soul, and spirit people are a soul too. So it's really made me question this week about consciousness and just what we can do if we accept, understand, and come to the knowledge, the belief, even that consciousness is not restricted to that of the physical body. Now, it can be a very hard pill to swallow, a very hard realization to come to, but you are not your body, your consciousness is much greater. And this week I have been doing experiments, which just prove that point absolutely. Things that have actually blown my mind. I've been experimenting recently with remote viewing, and I have been literally getting volunteers who've been working with me to picture themselves, imagine themselves in a place they know very well. And then I've been able, through my consciousness, by disassociating with that of the body, to place my consciousness in that location. I've been able to give floor plans, I've been able to give such specific details about houses, and a lot of this stuff has been around for a very long time. A lot of this stuff is not new. Our ancestors have been doing and knowing a lot of this stuff for thousands of years. So, in today's short but sweet reflection, I'm going to be speaking to you all about my mediumship, all about the experimentation, all about what I've been up to. And I have to say, I feel so privileged, so lucky, so humbled to be a medium, to serve a world as intelligent as the spirit world. So it's lovely to talk to you, my darlings.
A Week Immersed in Mediumship
It's me, it's me, it's me, and it's lovely to have you here. Now, I wanted to come on today to talk to you about my mediumship, what I've learned, what I've been doing. You're going to notice from the very get-go that my voice is much quieter because I'm trying to actually keep my volume down here because I'm recording this in between classes on the last day of my mediumship course, and my voice, as I've been told, bellows very well. I've definitely got a voice that's very powerful, which could fill an auditorium or a theatre without even having a microphone, which in a way is beautiful, but it also means that I need to be quiet when I record this because I don't want to wake the whole block up. And the other thing is when I'm passionate as well, or in the power or bringing spirit people through, my god, my voice bellows. So I was really excited to come onto this week, and I always love immersing myself in mediumship and experimenting with my mediumship, and I guess what first drew me on to doing different courses for my mediumship was wanting to kind of immerse myself in it, and I tell you this, there's nothing like coming on a course.
I firstly feel very fortunate to be able to come on, to have done so many courses over the years, but to be around other mediums, to immerse yourself in, you know, even the conversation around the dinner table, it's all really beautiful, and it's really touched my heart this week because the last time I did a course, I was still at my business and kind of playing that tug-of-war, if you like, of stepping between worlds, trying to immerse myself more into the spirit world while all the while running the most craziest company that's really stressful, recruitment, and there's always something going on. And if you're not stressed in recruitment, then it probably means you're not busy enough and you need to be stressed. So the very nature of that industry is trying to book in interviews, trying to close deals, trying to get jobs, trying to sell, sell, sell, sell, sell. So I came here with just a totally open mind this week, and I came on the back of obviously having done, with my mediumship recently, some really good platform work. So I wanted to come on because the spirit world, firstly, try so hard to come through to give us guidance. The effort that they put in to actually coming down to the — you can call it the material world that we live in here — is just phenomenal. And the effort they make to come and talk to us, to try and empower us, to try and help us live a more fuller, a more richer life, and to understand ultimately the power that each single one of us has inside of us to do literally mind-blowing things. And it always goes back to the point of how many limits we put on ourselves through the limiting beliefs that we have, through what we believe is possible, what we believe we're capable of. And I tell you this, my dear listener, I can be no exception to that, even in this very much crossroads period of my life right now. I still do get the ego wanting to chip in with unhelpful worries here. Is it going to be successful? Have you peaked already? And I think to myself, quiet the bloody hell down. So this week has really, really, really shown me the intelligence
The Extraordinary Intelligence of the Spirit World
of the spirit world. And I have to say, I really stopped last night to take a moment to think to myself, just what a privilege and an honour it is to be a medium, because to be an ambassador for a world that's so intelligent as the spirit world, it is actually extremely humbling, and that's why I'm so passionate about people doing mediumship for the right reasons, because it's an honour. I have seen the spirit world do some incredible things, even the very act of them coming through to give a communication through a medium, having to use the language of our soul, which means going into our consciousness as a medium, accessing different memories, different images, different photos that we have kind of imprinted within our consciousness, within our mind, and how they draw on every single available resource possible in order to get a communication through to us, just blows my mind.
Blindfolded Mediumship: Letting Spirit Lead
Even so much as we've done a lot of experimentation this week, and one of the things that I have done before, which I have to say is an exercise which really proves the intelligence of the spirit world, is I was in our group and every medium was given a raffle ticket, and on the table was the corresponding raffle ticket. So the exercise was to go up, pick a number, and then place a blindfold on. And the purpose of the blindfold is to make you just work with what you're sensing, but to go even one step further, what we then did was we were not given any yeses, no's or maybes. So there was no confirmation, no acknowledgement of the evidence that we've got. So you would have to do the reading, and at the very end, the person who had that corresponding number would then indeed confirm whether they understood all the evidence or not. Now it worked every single time, bar two times, and I just thought, how do the spirit world do this? It is absolutely mind-blowing how they choose their medium, and I feel that there's so much preparation that they put into coming down here and doing a communication, and in recent times I've started to fully acknowledge and believe that for me, because I believe every medium has a guide that works with them, I believe mediums have many guides, more so than someone who didn't do mediumship. And like I've said in the podcast before, I feel that my granddad is one of those guides, and I feel he acts very much as the telephone receiver, so to speak, in the spirit world. So I feel that if a spirit communicator, a loved one for a person, is coming through, my granddad will instruct them in terms of what they need to do to prepare themselves to speak for me because I went and did that reading, and what I got when I took my number was very strong, because I'm a really strong clairvoyant. I get so, so much vivid pictures in my third eye. But I always get such a feeling within the pictures, and I feel that feeling and emotion are such powerful parts of mediumship because I see a lot of mediums give readings, and the evidence is there, the person can take the evidence, but what the communication is really lacking is the power, and that's because a lot of the time they're giving the evidence, but what they're not giving is the emotion, and it's the emotion that acts as the fuel, it fuels the communication, and that's where you start to feel that power as a medium.
Emotion, Evidence & the Power of Communication
And I always feel that the only readings that ever touch me — and I obviously get a lot of readings being a medium and constantly wanting to develop this — but the ones where I feel that power, I feel that emotion, I feel that essence, are the ones that touch my heart. And obviously, my dad, it will almost be about six weeks from the year's anniversary of him passing away. And if we go back a year in time, me and my dad, we always had quite a fiery relationship because I'll be honest, he would frustrate the hell out of me at times, and I'm sure I would frustrate the hell out of him, but he would really struggle with his emotions. And I think my dad, I honestly believe he was struggling with depression for a lot of his life, but never actually addressed it or got it sorted. And if we go back a year ago, I would call him up, and a lot of the time he would get frustrated and shout and this, that, and the other, and it was tense, and I used to get so frustrated because I obviously loved my dad and wanted to really help him, and I never really felt any sort of upset or hatred — even hatred being a powerful word, I would never have those emotions towards him — because I just felt that he wasn't even aware of how he was sometimes, so the relationship was testing, but deep down he had such a heart of gold and really cared about his family. But when I look at this week and him coming through, because he's actually come through about four times now in some messages that have really blown my mind, I feel our relationship has evolved so much since he passed away by virtue of how much he's come through and communicated with me. But I have to say, when he came through yesterday for a platform demonstration through a medium who brought him through, it really touched my heart, not just because my dad always felt that he wasn't the best communicator at the best of times, but to not only see him come through in a demonstration of mediumship, being on the stage, so to speak, when my dad would never want to do public speaking or anything like that, but to hear his words, to hear how he viewed me, to hear how, since he's passed, aspects of myself have really touched him, actually really, really brought tears to my eyes because I was so in awe of the fact that not only is he coming through, he's coming through having learned the language of the spirit world. And we've had a number of conversations, my dad and I, through mediums since he passed away. And I feel so happy because I know from what we have discussed that he is now healed, having gone back to the spirit world. And I often think a lot of us will have a loved one pass away who was in distress, or they might be suffering, or they might have had a very challenging medical condition. And I feel that one of the things we often think to ourselves is, when they go back to the spirit world, are they still that same person? Or do they still have whatever it might have been that they might have struggled with when they're in the spirit world? And I can most definitely say, from all the experience I've had, I truly believe that when you go back home, when you go back to the spirit world, to the land of light, love, and high vibrations, you are healed. So just to see my dad do that has blown me away. And I almost feel — and again, this might sound strange to some people listening to this — but my granddad passed away fifteen years ago now, my nan is probably not far off ten years, my dad obviously much more recently, but my heart feels nourished because I feel like I've heard from so many of them this week, and it's just really interesting, even the evolution of mine and my dad's relationship since such time as he's gone
My Dad, Healing & the Spirit World
to the spirit world. So one thing I want to say to all of you, my lovely darlings, is the spirit world are so, so, so clever. The things that I have seen done over the years and how they can work with absolutely anything is again mind-blowing. Even in my mediumship now, I'm noticing that even where my attention, where my sight, where my eyes are drawn to. For example, I did a reading just yesterday, and I was just drawn so subtly to detailing on a bookcase, and that detailing led me into a story and an emotion about how this man felt about some of the carvings that he had made. He was a woodworker and a joiner, and it just makes me realise that a lot of the time when we're developing our mediumship, we're kind of searching, striving, reaching for just more evidence, almost like a conveyor belt, like next, next, next, next, next, almost like a supermarket checkout, you could say. And it takes a long time to really realise that. And when I do my mediumship, I'm extremely quick a lot of the time. My evidence, when I'm in that power, it comes through like boom boom boom boom boom. But there's so much to be said for really using every single thing within your consciousness, within your perception, with where your
Stop Reaching: Staying in the Power
senses are drawn, and we can be so quick to just discard parts of what comes to us, and I have to say, I think one of the biggest lessons for me this week, and I feel my heart just feels so full mediumistically, but I guess I've realized why I do, on occasion, get a no, and this is — you know, I love coming to medium school, so to speak, because it's the one time the spirit world know I'm here for this reason, so there's a high level of experimentation, you know, the amount of readings I've done this week with a blindfold on is a lot, let me just say that. But I really understand now that, and it's very subtle when you do it, but a lot of the time, whenever I get a no, I know exactly why I get a no within my mediumship because I've kind of reached, and it's a feeling, isn't it? You sort of get a piece of evidence and you may go to try and place that. You may be nosy and want to go into that, you may try and reach for another bit, and that always takes you out of the power of the spirit, out of the power of the now, and it places you in your head, which is why, if you're working in a way, or a teacher's telling you look, you need to get this from the spirit communicator, their name, their age, their relationship, whatever it might be, all that does is put you in your head immediately, and actually it's so limiting, it's so limiting on the intelligence that the spirit world have got. And trust me, I think it takes the spirit world a great deal of effort to come through and talk to us. And if you think of the language they have to use, they have to sort of dip into our consciousness, all of our experiences, how we feel about certain stuff, and use that in order to communicate with us. And then what do a lot of us mediums do? We then give them another set of criteria that they have to reach in order to come through. I can only imagine, in the spirit world — not that I feel that they act like this — but it must be like banging your head against concrete. So I have had a lot of opportunity to practice my platform mediumship as well this week, which is just coming on leaps and bounds. So I'm going to be getting out there doing some platform work over the coming months. I've been developing a mentalism kind of routine, I want to say, to really prove the power of what is capable of us as human beings if we believe that we can. And I think another big point I wanted to come on today to talk about, and I'm probably going to do an episode about this totally in its own right, is consciousness is not limited to your body, consciousness is not within you, and I'll tell you how I know that. Well, I know that for a number of reasons, but I have experimented with it
Consciousness Is Bigger Than the Body
so much over the last few weeks in terms of doing remote viewing, and remote viewing, for those of you who don't know, is essentially projecting your consciousness to another place, and there was so much about this done back by the Americans about 20-30 years ago, I believe, and eventually they stopped doing this remote viewing exercise because they were actually very scared about how it could be used. But I have had opportunities recently to get different volunteers to imagine themselves or picture themselves, or to be in a certain place, and then to project that into their consciousness, and by doing that, I've then gone in and been able to identify what the house is, what the feel of the house is, the layout, and the amount of detail I've got is absolutely crazy. And I guess what all of these experiments do, and the reason I want to call them experiments, firstly, is because it takes the pressure off, and you need to experiment if you're going to do mediumship, or you want to be a psychic, or you want to develop your gifts — you need to understand that you have to get over this need and desire to want to be right, because that is going to hinder you so much in your process, it's going to stop you wanting to experiment enough, and it's like anything: if you're going to learn how to communicate and bring through people's loved ones, then you need to understand how it works for you, and the only way you're going to understand that is by testing it. But we get so hung up, don't we, on being right, and most of the time it does come from a good place, it comes from a place of caring, it comes from a place of wanting to do a great job. But we can fall down that pit hole. So consciousness is not limited to the body, and I think that the sooner you can understand that, realise that, appreciate that, again it really shows the potential of what we can do. And I guess a big part of this week for me, and immersing myself in my mediumship, is the power of just understanding what's available to us, what we can draw on, how, if we're really in that place in our lives where we understand just how capable we are, and the fact that we have all the knowledge that we need available to us via that of the great spirit of which we are. So you could tell it's been a thought-provoking week, can't you? Bloody hell. But I just wanted to make that point because, for so long, I believed consciousness was internal for so much of my life, and all that did was make me feel disaligned and eventually led me down paths of self-destruction. But the spirit world, they come through with so much love and they try so hard to help us, and I have to say, it's an absolute honour to serve a world that is as intelligent as that. So we're going to have a lot of fun over the next few weeks, my darlings, because I've got some really good episodes for you. I wanted to come on, have a little natter, tell you what I've been up to. On a closing note, I will tell you an interesting story that made me laugh, actually. I was doing a reading for a lovely lady in my group, and I started to really understand that the man that was coming through was a doctor because he was sort of showing me the office that he worked in, and I was getting a sense that this man was quite tidy, but when it came to his desk, all I could see was piles of notes. Anyway, the reading went on, and
One Final Story: The Spirit World Gets Clever
I understood that there was a nurse who would work there who would also act as the housekeeper, and then the man did something very clever, which was he showed me a rifle. And I said to the person sitting down, can you understand this rifle? And she said no. And I said, was he a hunter? And she said, oh no, he wasn't a hunter. And then it turned out his surname was Hunter. So, you know, how clever, how goddamn clever are they? So I'm going to be talking over the next two weeks about some really interesting mediumship topics. If you do feel called to have a reading, I do actually have some availability at the moment, so just go to jasonpaulmedium.com. And I hope you have a lovely start to your weekend.
